"1973 – 2016" Candler - Melanie Grace Scroggs Fore, age 42, went to be an angel of the Lord on January 30, 2016 after valiantly fighting a year-long battle with leukemia. She was the loving wife of Jason Fore and the proud mother of Isabella Grace Fore of Candler and the daughter of Terry and Nelda Scroggs of Clyde. Melanie had a flare for life, always the life of the party and was passionate about the culinary delights. Melanie's true love was being a mother to Isabella, as well as, spending as much time as possible with her family and friends. Those who were fortunate enough to have met her gained a friend for life. Her ability to spread joy and laughter to everyone she encountered was, and always will be, remembered as one of her greatest gifts. She remained a brave, courageous woman, even throughout her final months. Melanie was born in Asheville and raised in Clyde. She attended Clyde Elementary, Canton Junior High School, and Pisgah Senior High School, where she celebrated Pisgah's 25th reunion. She received a degree in international business from UNC Asheville and was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta IIKE sorority. She did her senior internship at the Biltmore Estate, helping develop their acclaimed Festival of Flowers program. After college, Melanie went to work for, what is now, Morgan Stanley, where she received her license to trade on the NYSE. After several years, she moved into the pharmaceutical industry for Boehringer Ingelheim, where just prior to her illness had been promoted to Cardiovascular Specialty Representative. In addition to her husband, daughter and parents, Melanie is survived by her godmother Patricia Gillis; special cousins, April Scroggs Camp and Jim Hardin; cousins, Derek Shook, and Donna Shook Menke; aunt, Jean Shook; uncle, Tim Scroggs; father-in-law, Joe Fore and special friend RoseEdda Slemp; mother-in-law, Patty Mumpower, brother and sisters-in-law, Kim Fore and Jesse and Heather Fore; step-daughters, Arden and Madison Ramming; and her niece and nephew, Madelyn & Dalton Fore. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Forest and Grace Hardin; paternal grandparents; Arthur and Lillian Scroggs, maternal great-grandmother, Nora Davis; great aunt Macie Davis; uncle, Larry Hardin; and cousin Elizabeth Hardin. A celebration of Melanie's life will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home the with Reverend Daniel Gaddy officiating.
