Asheville, Melanie Lea Smith, age 48, died Friday, June 27, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of Jackie Loyless Terrell and the late Luke Lea Terrell. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Marc Terrell. Melanie received her AA Degree from Southwestern Community College as a paralegal. She was employed by State Farm as an insurance agent and was a member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed current events, the family dog, Rahne and her family. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Larry Smith; a son, Christopher Luke Smith; her mother, Jackie Terrell of Waynesville; her mother-in-law, Shirley Smith, of Independence, MO; a brother, Charles Matthew Terrell, and his wife, Harriett of Atlanta, GA; an uncle, Joe Terrell and his wife, Freida, of Clyde; an aunt, Phyllis Parham, of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charles W. Wilson II and Reverend Woody Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be David Rodgers, Ron and Cory Smith, Jonathan Parham, Joel Burnette, Tim Ingle and Kyle Beaver. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
