Melita Sorrells

April 16, 1957 — September 9, 2007

Clyde - Melita Cook Sorrells, age 50, died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at her residence. She was a native and life long resident of Haywood County and a daughter of Guy Lewin and Geraldine Conard Cook. Melita had many passions which included art, cooking, and spending time with her nieces and nephew. Her family will miss her playfulness and gentle spirit. In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Vicki Powers and her husband, Tom, of Johnson City, TN, and Sherri Burch of Canton; one brother, Dean Cook and his wife, Karen, of Canton; three nieces, Tori Powers of Atlanta, GA, Tamsen and Tessa Powers of Johnson City, TN; one nephew, Caleb Burch, of Canton; and a special friend, Jimmy Sorrells of Waynesville. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Reverend Donnie Henson and Reverend Branden Mendez officiating. Burial will follow in Old Thickety Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
