Melvin Carver

Rosman-Melvin Clifford Carver, age 80, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Transylvania Hospital.

He was a native of Smokemont and a prior resident of Haywood County. He was the son of the late James Robert and Laura Jane Watson Carver. He was the husband of the late Beulah Rice Carver who died in 1989 and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Lettie Carver.

He was a cattle farmer for most of his life and he served in the 120th Infantry of the National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirlyn Queen of Rosman and Dorothy Rice Roberts of Canton;; two grandchildren, Rolanda Queen Orr and Joshua Queen both of Rosman and two great-grandchildren, Gage and Sydney Orr.

Services will be private, however the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Transylvania County Hospice, PO Box 1116, Brevard, NC 28712.
