Merl Messer

September 4, 1935 — November 30, 2003

Canton-Merl June Messer, age 68, of Little East Fork Road, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Delmar Samuel and Mary Dee Davis Rogers. She was employed at the Lake Logan Lodge for several years and was a member of Laurel Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack Messer; two sons, Michael Dean Messer and Gary Dewayne Messer and his wife, Cathy, both of Canton; a brother, Samuel D. Rogers, and his wife, Maxine, of Hot Springs; and three grandchildren, Derick Michael, Robert Samuel, and Tanner Logan Messer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend T. M. Gibson and Reverend Stacy Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Sunburst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
