Michael Appleby

Canton – Michael William Appleby, age 59, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at the VA Medical Center. A native of Willimantic, Connecticut, he currently resided in Haywood County. He was the son of William and Cecilia Courture Appleby of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Michael was a US Naval veteran, having served in the Mediterranean. He enjoyed fishing, trucks, guitars, and firearms. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy Appleby of Canton; daughter, Racheal Malone, of Ohio; son, Michael W. Appleby, Jr. of Southport, North Carolina; brothers, Randall Appleby of Stuart, Florida and Mark Appleby of Port St. Lucie; and grandchildren, Dominic Appleby and Kristin Malone. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center Resident Fund, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
