Michael Austin

"Will be missed by all" Candler – Michael "Mickey" Steven Austin, 70, passed away peacefully after fighting a brave and courageous battle on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. A resident of Candler for the majority of his life, he was a son of the late Leland Sylvester and Grace Margaret Lance Austin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Watts Austin, who died in 2011; and a sister, Ann Childers. Mickey was full of life and was known for his great strength and determination. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed fishing, trips to the beach and lake, and most especially his children and grandchildren, and his dog, "Baby". He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Austin Allen of Waynesville; one son, Steven Austin and wife, Cathi, of Greer, South Carolina; a sister, Oneida Mason of Bethel; two brothers, Larry and Ray Dean Austin, all of Candler; and four grandchildren, Abbi Pittman, Briana and Brooklyn Allen, and Madi Austin. A special thanks to our friends and family for loving and supporting our Dad and especially to his life-long friend, Ray Stewart, for your caring and friendship which will never be forgotten. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
