Michael Anthony "Mike" Cochran, age 63, died Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Howard and Mabel Blaylock Cochran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Free Cochran, who died in 2005. Mike retired in 2008 from Evergreen Packaging with 42 years of service. He was an active member and deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mike loved hunting, fishing, singing and playing the bass guitar. He is survived by his wife, Diane Rogers Cochran; one son, Cameron Cochran and his wife Andrea, of Sylva; a step-daughter, Krista Cogburn and her husband, Scott, of Waynesville; a step-son, Timothy Clark and his wife, Janice, of Candler; three sisters, Sharon Dietch of Reidsville, Jimmie Pratt of Asheville, and Robin Cochran of Arlington, VA; one brother, Shane Cochran of Alexandria, VA; one granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Cochran; and three step-grandchildren, Trent Clark, Kasey Weeks, and Kari Cogburn. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley and Reverend J. D. Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
