Waynesville, Michael Terry "Bucky" Deaver, age 66, of 110 Dazzling Brook Lane, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Roy M. and Nicie Stamey Deaver. He was employed by API for more than ten years and was vice president of operations. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and a recipient of a Purple Heart, a Silver Star, and also the Bronze Star with Valor. Michael was an avid coin collector and student of military history. His passion was his family and it was his sense of humor that kept everyone laughing. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria Burris Deaver; one son, Lane Deaver of Clyde; a surrogate daughter, Tammy Hash, of Clyde; one sister, Linda Singleton and her husband, Steve, of the Bethel Community; a grandson, Lakoda Deaver; and one surrogate granddaughter, Brynne Hash. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde with military rites provided by the National Guard, VFW Post 5202 and the American Legion Post 47.
