Michael Meushaw

April 1, 1985 — March 22, 2016

Waynesville, Michael Paul "Mikie" Meushaw, age 30, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Michael Joseph Meushaw and Pamela Jean McCracken, of Waynesville. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorothy K. and John Way McCracken. "Mikie" had a special love for his mom and always expressed it with actions, always happy to tell anyone at any time how he felt. As a young man, he began motocross racing and taught the skill of riding to others, including his nephews, Hunter and Jacob. He also worked on the bikes and eventually became a motorcycle mechanic. It had been his dream and with sponsors on board, he was working towards going pro, that is until he was injured at the ProSeries. Mikie loved and wanted to always spend time with his family. He had a very special relationship with niece and nephews, Nikki, Jacob, Hunter and Mike Mike. He loved babysitting the boys at a young age and also enjoyed attending basketball events with Hunter and baseball with Mike Mike. He also shared a special bond with his beloved "granny" who cared for him when he was young. Granny in turn was cared for by Mikie as she aged and during the last few months of her life, he moved in and provided around the clock care. He was known for reaching out to many people in need and had a love for music and the minion, Kevin. In addition to his parents, Mikie is survived by two sisters, Tanya Haskett (Shannon) of Waynesville and Roxanne Holcombe (Michael) of the Crabtree community; a half-brother, Christopher Michael Meushaw, of Savannah, Georgia; paternal grandparents, Naomi and Joseph Meushaw of Hanover, Pennsylvania; aunt, Debbie Anselmi, of Timonium, Maryland; and cousin, Crystal Whitman, of Baltimore, Maryland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association Foundation – Juvenile Research, 205 Regency Executive Park Drive, Suite 102, Charlotte, NC 28217.
