Michael Nelson

"1947-2017"

Waynesville, Michael Edward Nelson, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the V.A. Medical Center.

A native of Purcell, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Richard Earl and Mary Douglas Nelson. Michael served proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era. For 14 years he was employed by the city of Albemarle, NC as a technician in the water department. Michael developed a love for woodworking over the years, constructing many unique and beautiful crafts. His skill set eventually led him into carpentry where he built, by hand, an office for his step-father in Waynesville. Mike was of the Catholic faith.

In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his brother, Bradley Eugene Nelson, of Canton.

Honoring Michael's wishes, there are no services scheduled.
