Mildred Bell

December 28, 1921 - March 1, 2016 Canton - Mildred Robinson Bell, 94, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Furman and Ruth Harbin Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Edward Weston Bell and brothers, Charles and Weaver Robinson. Mildred is survived by two children; daughter, Edwina Ramal and her husband, Bill, of Canton; son, Joe Bell and his wife, Merceidth, also of Canton; cherished grandchildren, Wes Bell and Lindsey Robinson; and beloved great-grandson, Collin Robinson as well as nieces and nephews. Mildred was a lifelong and faithful member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church of Canton, where her special gift was teaching young children in Sunday school. She especially loved gardening and was most happy when she could be outside working in her yard. After her children were grown, she devoted her time to helping others. She enjoyed spending time visiting with a cherished cousin at Silver Bluff. For several years, she devoted time each week helping a beloved senior friend care for his ill wife. And for more than a decade, she and Ed delivered lunches for the local "Meals on Wheels" program. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Beaverdam United Methodist Church with the Reverend Hugh Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to Beaverdam Community Cemetery, 28 Garrett Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
