Mildred Burnette

Canton – Mildred Bridges Sentelle Burnette, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at The Homestead in Clyde. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Richmond and Nannie Raby Bridges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gwyn Sentelle; second husband, Charles Burnette; two sisters, Hazel Bridges and Ruth Wood; and two brothers, Carl and Lloyd Bridges. Mildred attended Waynesville Township High School, retired from American Enka Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. Mildred is survived by three daughters, Jane Webb and her husband, Darrell, of Canton, Margaret Edwards and her husband, Samuel, of Waynesville, and Gwen Chambers and her husband, Charles, also of Waynesville; one sister, Dot Galloway, of Waynesville; a special cousin, Paul Raby, of Candler; four granddaughters, Cindy Medford and her husband, Anthony, Misty Littlewood and her husband, Mark, Amy Mendez and her husband, Brandon, and Kelli Messer and her husband, T. J.; two grandsons, Wesley Edwards, and Justin Queen and his wife, Myra; seventeen great-grandchildren, Kyle, Amity, Lexi, and Laney Mendez, Makayla and Will Medford, Tyler, Coleman, Dalton, and Peyton Messer, Luke, Ryan, and Sarah Littlewood, and Jalen, Logan, and Hannah Queen, and Madison Chambers; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Webb and Reverend Brandon Mendez officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
