Clyde- Mildred Shuler Hunter- age 81 of Clyde peacefully departed this earth on a bright, sunshine filled morning to be with the Lord, Friday, March 18, 2005. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Joyce Elsey who died in 1990. The Clyde Chapter No. 188 recently consolidated with the Waynesville Chapter No. 165 in 2004 of which Mildred was installed to serve as a Star Point Officer the evening before she passed away. Over the years, she raised thousands of dollars selling "Angel Pins" to support the Shriners Children's Hospitals. Much of her retirement time was spent taking care of her husband Bob. She had a passion for cats, loved to read and spent many hours in her favorite chair in the sun room with a cat in her lap, talking on the phone to friends or reading a good book. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Graham Hunter; one daughter, Faye Norman and her husband Doug of Crestview, Fl.; one son, David Burris and his wife Susie of Waynesville; six grandchildren, Ella Faye "Sue" Toth, Cheri Riddle, Pamela Higbie, James Elsey, Lisa Kirkendoll and Amanda Dendy; seven great-grandchildren, Britne and Paul Wheelon, Jordan and Kerrington Kirkendoll, Mackenzie Burris, Henry and Sean Dendy and her two precious cats, Hinora II and Samantha.
