Mildred Laws

Mildred Messer Laws, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Conley and Cora Mae Gibson Messer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Laws, who died in 2003 and a son. She was a member of Hyatts Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson County. Mildred enjoyed making crafts. She is survived by a daughter, Opal Elders of Bethel; three granddaughters, Connie Elders-Milner and her husband, "Bubba" of Bethel, Donna Elders-Stout and her husband, Terry, of Candler, and René Elders-Clontz and her husband, Fred, of Whittier. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
