Mildred Rathbone

Waynesville, Mildred Janet Morgan Rathbone, age 78, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson County, she had lived in Haywood County since age three. She was the daughter of the late Leeman and Zelia Woodard Morgan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Rathbone, who died in 1997; three brothers, Harry Mashburn, Ray Mashburn, and L.C. Morgan; and one sister, Annie Grooms. Mildred was employed as a clerk at the Dollar General, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, Keith Rathbone and his wife, Joy, of Clyde; two daughters, Pam Kintner (Clyde) of Candler and Patti Pinkston (Mark) of Canton; six sisters, Frankie Warren (Paul) and Johnny Kilby of Waynesville, Bobbie Putnam (Warren) of Lake Junaluska, Janie James (Jack) and Bennie Cochran (Brent), of Canton, and Georgia Wilman (Phillip) of Orofina, Idaho; one brother, Jerry Morgan (Joan) of Parrotsville, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, Brett, Joe, Kane, Luke and Morgan Pinkston, Cindy Morley, Dana, Chad and Tarah Kintner, Amanda Henderson (Andrew), Kaleb Rathbone (Monica), and Rachel Trantham (Tyler); and three great grandchildren, Jacob Henderson, Mason Rathbone, and Abby Trantham. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Susan Giles officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
