Mildred Rhinehart

Waynesville-Mildred Burgess Rhinehart, age 95, died on Monday, June 19, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Rebecca Harris Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Rhinehart, Sr., who died in 1980; three sisters, Cordellia Gillespie, Carrie Woody, and Carbina Rose; three brothers, Marvin, Bud, and Leroy Burgess; and one stepdaughter, Leona Clark. She was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Mildred loved flowers and working in her garden. She is survived by three stepdaughters, Mary Shook, of Balsam, Mildred Arrington, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Betty Watson, of Franklin; three stepsons, Vaughn and John Rhinehart, both of Waynesville and Clarence Rhinehart of Monroe, GA; one brother, Aurthur Burgess, of Umatella, FL; Ann Damitz, who was like a daughter to her; a special step granddaughter, Deborah June Rhinehart and several other stepgrandchildren and great stepgrandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend J. Linwood Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Plott Cemetery at Saunook. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne and Tim Burgess, Billy Woody, Ricky Watson, and Tony and Bill Shook. Memorials may be made to Morning Doves, 3570 Jonathan Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
