Mills Hicks, Jr.

Mills Hicks, Jr., age 86, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Aston Park Health Care. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Mills, Sr. and Carrie Wilson Hicks. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Allen Hicks, in 1993; a brother, W.L. Hicks; and a sister, Pauline Underhill. Mills was a proud Marine. He participated in action against the enemy at Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. He was a former employee of Champion Paper with 43 years in the company. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lucille Trull Hicks; a daughter, Lynn Sellars and her husband, Steve, of Weaverville; a son, Douglas Hicks and his wife, Sharon, of Candler;a stepson, Daryl Ford; two grandchildren, Leigh-Anna Hicks and Tyler Hicks and his wife, Allison; and a step-grandchild, Kim Scott. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2006, at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
