Mingus Wells

Mingus Robert Wells, age 66, of 275 Burnette Cove Road died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.<br><br>He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. He was one of 13 children of Robert and Rosa Belle Trull Wells. <br><br>He retired from Dayco with 34 years of service as a millwright. He was a member of Burnette Cove Baptist Church and served as a deacon being ordained in 1975. He was a retired member of the Cruso Volunteer Fire Department with over 30 years of service to his community. He was also a rock mason. Mingus was a loving husband, Dad and Papaw and a friend to all of his community. <br><br>In addition to his wife, Mary Grogan Wells, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Jan Metcalf and her husband, Joe of Canton; a son, Mark Robert Wells and his wife, Leisa of Waynesville; three sisters, Rosa Belle and Hazel Wells both of Canton and Connie Hays of Fl; a brother, Ervin Wells of Blairsville, GA; two grandchildren, Janie Wells and Tyler Metcalf.<br><br>Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend Barry Clark and Reverend Mark Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home. Pallbearers will be John Graf, "Worm" Evans, Billy Blaylock, "Red" Heatherly, Carroll Brookshire, Tim Trull, Lenny Hodge and Jeff Scott.
