Waynesville, Minnie Fisher Fish, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lizzie Russell Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her husband Goal A. Fish, who died in 1981; four sisters, Mary Mauck, Lura Fish, Hester Holland and Martha Benfield; and three brothers, Floyd, Daniel and Henry Fisher. Minnie was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Minnie is survived by two daughters, Arlene Rathbone (Fred) of Waynesville and Juanita Gaddis (Harry, Jr.) of Clyde; a son, Edwin Fish (Jaurell) of Clyde; a sister, Hazel Mathis, of Clyde; two brothers, Robert Fisher of Waynesville and Crawford Fisher of Nebo; four grandchildren, Henry Rathbone (Coleen), Freida Shepherd (Anthony), Amanda Gaddis and Russell Gaddis; four great-grandchildren, Cody Stines, Nason, Joseph and Isaac Rathbone; and very special friends, Garnell and Helen Day. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Ninevah Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Leslie, Reverend Jimmy Moore and Reverend Paul Davenport. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Lloyd Fish and Dr. Owen Fish. Reverend DeVere Williams will conduct a private family prayer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville and at other times, 97 Short Street in Waynesville.
