Minnie Jenkins

February 4, 1914 — September 8, 2009

Clyde, Minnie Shuler Jenkins, age 95, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Hominy Valley Assisted Living in Candler. She was born in Swain County, and had resided in Haywood County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Lillie Barker Shuler. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ernest Jenkins who passed away in 1975; two grandsons Wally Davis, Kerry Hall and five brothers, Leslie, Odell, Arthur, Gordon and Isaac Shuler. Minnie retired as a Nurses Aide at Haywood County Hospital. During her retirement, she was a devoted volunteer and was dedicated to helping the elderly and planned activities for the disabled. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Davis of Bean Station, TN and Geneva Shoaf of Winston Salem, NC; one son, Rayford Jenkins and his wife, Shirley, of Powell, TN; seven grandchildren eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2009 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Garry Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 107 Weaver Drive, Clyde, NC 28721
