Waynesville, Minnie Caldwell Parton, age 95, of Asbury Road, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Minnie was born and lived in Haywood County for her lifetime and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Eller Caldwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Parton, who died in 1993; two sisters, Mary Waldrop and Betty Cook; and six brothers, Lloyd, John, Tommy, Frank, Dock and Jack Caldwell. Minnie enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Minnie is survived by a daughter, Brenda Grahl and her husband, Dennis, of Clyde; four sisters, Annie Caldwell and Cora Moody, of Canton, Sarah Sutton of Maggie Valley and Ruby Bradley of Waynesville; a brother, Thurman Caldwell, of Waynesville; grandson, Derrick Grahl and his wife, Cindy; great-grandson, Todd Grahl; and step-great-grandson, Colton Hightower. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Jaynes officiating. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to service at the funeral home.
