Virginia-Miriam Freel Hall, of Radford, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004. Miriam was born in Alabama in 1953 and grew up in Canton, N.C. She graduated Cum Laude from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She was a member of Omicron Nu Honor Society. Miriam was talented in arts and crafts, and was active with Girl Scouts as a youth and later as a leader. She achieved the rank of First Class Scout and was awarded the God and Community Award. She enjoyed cooking and had hiked over 200 miles of the Appalachian Trail with her father.
Throughout her 25 year struggle with multiple sclerosis, Miriam maintained her sweetness and positive outlook, and dealt with her challenges bravely. She was a perfect wife and mother, and her loving spirit will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Donald Hall, her son David Hall, her parents James and Clara Freel, her sister Shirley and her husband Dr. Johnny Carson,her sister Elizabeth Craig, and her wonderful friends Jean Rose and Lorene Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Grove United Methodist Church in Radford, Virginia.
There will be a visitation at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford, Virginia from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, February 28, 2004. A funeral service will be held at Grove United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at 2.00 P.M., with Reverend James Bennington and Dr. Russell Gregory officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road in Clyde,North Carolina.
