Moena Thompson

Moena Morgan Thompson, age 89, died Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home. She was a native of Buncombe County and a member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church. Moena was the daughter of the late Joseph Lee and Letha Peebles Morgan and was preceded in death by her husband Otis C. Thompson, who died in 1994. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Thompson and his wife, Rometta, of Asheville and Jerry Thompson and his wife, Ann, of Charlotte; a sister, Martha McCracken and her husband, Tom, of Candler; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church with the Reverend H.D. Houck and Reverend Adam Vernon officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Piney Mountain U.M.C. Cemetery Fund, 36 Piney Mountain Church, Candler, NC 28715.
