Molly Case Stamey, age 92, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Martha Gibson Case. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Stamey, who died in 1996; one sister, Connie Burnette; and five brothers, Bruce, Bobby, Ulas, Ernest, and Edward Case. Molly was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Roy Stamey and his wife, Barbara, of Clyde; two daughters, Shirley Burnette and her husband, Howard, of Clyde, and Peggy Swink and her husband, Joe, of Canton; one sister, Frances Stroupe of Weaverville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family wishes to express their many thanks to the staff of Silver Bluff Nursing Home for the care and kindness extended to Mrs. Stamey and her family. We would like to give thanks to our Mom for all of the many wonderful meals especially fried chicken that was always prepared with so much love.
