Morris Kelly, Jr.

June 8, 1922 — January 7, 2010

Morris Lee Kelly, Jr., age 87, of Oak Street passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Mission Hospitals, Memorial Campus. A native of Eastanollee, GA, he had resided in Haywood County since 1927. He was the son of the late Morris Kelly, Sr., and Maude Wilson Kelly South. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Morris was a charter member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He retired from Champion International with 46 years of service and was a United States Army Air Corps veteran serving in the European Theater in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Edna Davis Kelly; two daughters, Muriel K. Hunter and her husband, Norman, of Norcross, GA and Marianna K. Pappas and her husband, Gary, of Canton, four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father William Morgan officiating. Memorials may be made to Haywood County EMS, 215 North Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
