Mrs. Clyde Stockton

Canton- Mrs. Clyde Burnette Stockton, age 95, formerly of Buena Vista Drive, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Turner and Essie Norris Burnette. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William N."Dee" Stockton who died in 1996. Mrs. Stockton was a former employee for Champion International as a secretary and was Canton's 1st Labor Day Queen in 1937. She was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday February 20, 2009 at Crawford /Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Tim Durham officiating. The family will receive friends 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
