Myrna Bradbury

August 21, 1918 — October 29, 2003

Waynesville-Myrna Athey Bradbury, age 85, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Chase County, Nebraska, she had resided in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Haywood County in 1968. She was the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Mina A. Theobald Athey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ernest Bradbury who died in 1999; two sisters; and two brothers. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She was employed as a chemist and lab technician at the Haywood County Health Department for 20 years before her retirement.

She is survived by a daughter, Faith Stairwalt, and her husband, Bill, of Beatrice, Nebraska; a son, Michael Scott Bradbury, and his wife, Patricia, of Weaverville, NC; a brother, Marvin Scott Athey, of Imperial, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2003 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Services and burial will be in Wauneta, Nebraska.
