Waynesville, Myrtle Fulbright Crawford, age 102, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center. A native of Haywood County she was the daughter of the late George V. and Mattie Tate Fulbright. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Horace French Crawford, who died in 2005; two sons, Dewain and Jimmie Crawford. Myrtle was the oldest member of Long's Chapel United Methodist Church. As a member of the 1914 generation, Myrtle was a time testament to hard work and determination. She grew up in a simpler time, working many years for the United States Postal Service. She enjoyed working in her garden and was always preparing a delicious meal for family and friends. Myrtle is now rejoicing in heaven with her Heavenly Father, reunited with her beloved Horace. Left to cherish her memories are two daughter-in-law's, Faye Crawford, of South Carolina and Patricia Crawford, of Morganton; two grandchildren, Darwin Crawford, and his wife, Jamie, of Waynesville; Ronda Imand, and her husband, John, of South Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Tabitha Lawter, and her husband, Jordan and Sherrie Reiser, and her husband, Quentin; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Corbin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverends Chris Westmoreland and Tim McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
