Myrtle Griffith

Huskins Griffith, age 92, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Claudia King Huskins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Willard Griffith, who died in 1959; a daughter, Sarah Evelyn Griffith; a son, Harry Lee Griffith; a granddaughter, Nikki Clark; two grandsons, Randy Clark and Kevin Kirkpatrick; and four sisters. Myrtle was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marble, enjoyed gardening, and having made many quilts in her lifetime, loved to quilt. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by four sons, Bobby Gerald Griffith and his wife, Patricia, of Candler, Roy Wayne Griffith and his wife, Mary Jane, Danny Merle Griffith and his wife, Donna, and Gary Dean Griffith all of Canton; three daughters, Billie Frances Clark of Canton, Patsy Gale Kirkpatrick and her husband, Robert Lewis, of Waynesville, and Peggy Sue Griffith of Billings, Montana; one brother, Clayton Huskins of Marble; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Marble at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
