Myrtle White

Myrtle Larue Tucker White, age 73, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the Brian Center of Waynesville. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Daniel and Maggie Wittenberg Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivory White, her brothers, Lloyd "Junebug" and Bruce Tucker. She was a member of Harris Chapel AME Zion Church. Myrtle worked for the Greeley family as a housekeeper, nanny, and held a very special place in their hearts. She also enjoyed flowers and loved her family very much. She is survived by a son, Anthony Tucker of Canton; two daughters, Lisa Tucker of Asheville and June Andrea Tucker of Canton; three grandchildren, Ania, Vincent, and Dareus Tucker; and a great-grandson, Kenneth Council, III. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James O'Neil officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 20 Oak Street, Canton.
