Canton-Namon "Pap" Williams, age 85, of the Dutch Cove Community, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was a native of Haywood County where he lived most of his life. He was a son of the late John and Rebecca Rhinehart Williams. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Pheboe Surrett Williams who died in 1949, his 2nd wife, Lottie Mae Surrett Williams who died in 1992, a son, Bobby Junior Williams who died in 2002, a step-son, Cecil Surrett, 2 grandsons, Eric C. Williams and Bruce Allen Williams and a great granddaughter, Holly C. Williams. He retired from Winfield's Lumber in Dutch Cove and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in the Big Sandy Mush Community. He is survived by seven sons, Tom Williams of Leicester, Waynie Williams of Spring Creek, Wade, Billy, Carroll, Reed and Ted Williams, all of Canton, a step-son, Wayne Surrett and a step daughter, Barbara S. Gant, both of Canton, one sister, Lote Singleton, one brother, John Williams, both of Canton, a special companion, Willie Jones, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Homes in Canton.
