Nan Loyer

Waynesville-Nan Ella Rapp Loyer, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. A native of Marion, Ohio, she had resided in Haywood County since 1974. She was the daughter of the late Harlan Tschannen and Bessie Love Harrison Rapp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Burggraf. She attended Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio and received a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Mars Hill College. She was Executive Director of the Haywood County Literacy Council, retiring in 2003. Nan was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the LWML. She was a past member of the Haywood Rotary Club where she served as Secretary. She had a special love for her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking, making pottery, and gardening, and was a Master Gardener. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Phil Loyer; two daughters, Susan Loyer Barker and her husband, Ben, of Durham, NC and Karen Loyer Kerch and her husband, Josh, of Cleveland, TN; one son, Steve Loyer and his wife, Patty, of Gilbert, AZ; a twin sister, Ann Henderson, and her husband, Dick, of Galena, OH and sisters, Mary Jones and her husband, Dick, of Melbourne, FL and Linda Ricker and her husband, Dick, of Indianapolis, IN; five brothers, Bob Dykes and his wife, Elaine of Melbourne, FL, Ralph Rapp and his wife, Carolyn, of Mt. Gilead, OH, Wayne Rapp and his wife, Barbara, of Marion, OH, David Rapp and his wife, Diane, of Hamilton, OH, and John Rapp and his wife, Pat, of Henderson, NV; and four grandchildren, Joey and Zeke Loyer and Sydney and Liliana Barker. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Christopher Crume officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to Haywood County Literacy Council, P.O.
