Waynesville-Nana Lou Miller Palmer, age 71, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late James Henry and Ada Franklin Miller. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Fish. Nana was a waitress at Smith's Drug Store until its closing and also worked in the Christmas Shoppe. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and loved working in her flower garden. She had a special love for all of her grandchildren She is survived by two daughters, Susie Palmer and Linda Rhinehart and her husband, Tim all of Waynesville; three brothers, John Henry Miller and his wife, Dot of Darien, GA, Robert and Bill Miller of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Amber Rhinehart, Nathan Rhinehart and his wife, Teresa and Will Rhinehart; three step-great grandchildren, Jordan, Jayla and Caleb Ferguson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Davis and Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home and, at other times, at Nana's residence at 19 Spruce Street, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald and Justin Rhinehart, Ricky and Levi Caldwell, Bobby and Greg Miller and Billy Queen.
