Nancy Rogers Boyd

Nancy was born in Waynesville on July 2, 1944, to Willis and Honey Smith.   Nancy lived her whole life here in Haywood County.  She was proceeded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Tom and Phillip and her sister Elizabeth.

She has been the loving partner to Richard “Rick” Boyd since 1982.  The two were married on May 7, 1988.  She raised two sons, Barry and Scotty and opened her family to their sons’ partners: Debby and Nicole.  She also has two stepsons: Joseph (Jill) and Kevin (Johnina).  She has been a dedicated grandmother to Jessica (Amanda), Nikki, Harlyn, Jameson, Jackson, Jeremy, Josephine, Jacob and Mason.   She is also survived by one sister, June Ray.  She also had a special relationship with her cousin Jerry Clark and his wife Pat who live in Michigan.

She loved spending time at the lake, camping, fishing, and sitting around the firepit, telling stories that made us laugh until we cried.  She loved trying new recipes and sharing them with her family.  She was a member of Dellwood Baptist church.  She was dedicated to her pets: Fancy and Dolly and loved sitting and watching birds and tending to her plants. 

Nancy will always be remembered for her laughter and loving energy.   Family was the most important thing to her and she loved to talk and laugh with the people who were important to her.  Nancy had a special knack of making people feel appreciated and embraced by her.   She was not shy about telling you she was proud of you and gave compliments and hugs out with generosity and grace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Dellwood Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. prior to the services.
