Nancy Brooks

Clyde, Nancy Woodard Brooks, age 90, of Poison Cove, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at MedWest Haywood. A native of Swain County, she moved to Haywood County in 1956. She was the daughter of Calvin and Flora Brendle Woodard and was also preceded in death by her husband, Burl Brooks, who died in 1993; two sisters, Lottie Hyde and Lela Woods; four brothers, George, Burl, Bill and Craig Woodard; and a son-in-law, Ronald Sigado. Nancy enjoyed the outdoors. She also loved gardening, flowers, quilting, and her family. She attended the Clyde Church of God. She is survived by her daughter, Letha Sigado, of Maggie Valley; one son, Floyd Brooks and his wife, Lil, of Clyde; three sisters, Liza Barker of Bryson City, Dorothy Darr of Whittier, and Dallie Saunders of Tuckaseegee; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Nations and Reverend Carrol Lindsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 560666, Charlotte, NC 28256-0666.
