Nancy Duckworth

"Loved Beyond Words" Canton – Nancy Silver Duckworth, age 76, of Canton and Spring Hill, Florida ran into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Nancy was born on May 19, 1939 in Charlotte, NC. She grew up in Oteen and attended Biltmore High School. She met the love of her life, Jack Duckworth, at Babe Malloy's in Asheville. They married on September 15, 1957. Nancy is the daughter of the late L.P. Silver and Evelyn Hughey Silver and was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry P. Silver. She is survived by her wonderful husband of 58 years Jack E. Duckworth; her children, Donna Diven and her husband, Jim, of Spring Hill, Florida, Larry Duckworth and his wife, Diane, of Asheville, and David Duckworth and his wife, Valorie, of Woodstock, Georgia; and a sister-in-law, Judy Silver Allen and her husband, Dick, of Etowah, North Carolina. She dearly loved her grandchildren, Samantha, Jack and his wife, Kayla, Jimmy, Mitchell, Julia, and Carson. Nancy began her running career in her early 40's. After only one year, she completed the Charlotte Marathon in 1982 with a time of 4 hours 12 minutes. She was fortunate enough to be an avid golfer and it was a huge part of her life. She was a member of Laurel Ridge Country Club and Timber Pines Country Club in Spring Hill, Florida where she resided half the year for several years. She was a member of the WNC Blue Ridge Golf Association. Nancy's wish was to thank Dr. Nathan Williams, Nurse Donna Bradford, and the wonderful staff at New Horizons as well as Dr. Adrienne Stanley at Midway Medical Center. They were truly a blessing with her battle with ovarian cancer. A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at Canton First Baptist Church with Ray Shepard officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception following the memorial service in the fellowship hall.
