Nancy Hughey

Canton, Nancy Buchanan Hughey, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Vaughn and Nannie Josephine Cloer Buchanan. Nancy was a member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was to take care of her two nieces and grand nieces and one grandnephew while their parents worked. Nancy is survived by her husband of fifty years, Don Hughey; a brother, Perry Buchanan, of Waynesville; two nieces, Kim Bowen, and her husband, Kevin, and Kristy Thompson, and her husband, Greg, all of Waynesville; two grandnieces, Kamea Bowen and Chloe Thompson; a grandnephew, Cody Thompson; and her pet dog, Foxy. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Old Thickety Cemetery with Reverend Dan Gaddy officiating.
