Waynesville, Nancy Sherwood Williams De Wolf, age 76 died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital. Nancy was a native of Elmhurst, IL and formerly of Rye NY. She was the daughter of the late Lester and Ruth Cruger Williams and was preceded in death by a brother, John Williams. Nancy graduated from Dana Hall in Wesley, MA and continued on to graduate with a major in French in 1953 from Pembroke College of Brown University in Providence, RI. She furthered her studies in French in Paris, France as well as McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Nancy was a very special person with varied interests spanning literature, travel, music, and the arts. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and best friend. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Walter S. De Wolf of Waynesville; five children, Amanda Sherwood McArthur and her husband, Sean of Tampa, FL, Matthew E. Heneghan and his wife, Karen of Springfield, VA, Mark C. De Wolf and his fiancée, Mary A. Gregory of Waynesville, Christopher R. De Wolf and his wife, Beth of Elgin, SC, Matthew C. De Wolf and his wife, Allison of Parker, CO; nine grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Bridget Williams of Houston, TX. Memorials may be made to lung or cancer charities of ones choice. A private memorial service was held in Waynesville, NC. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Juniper Hill Cemetery in Rhode Island.
