Nannie Howell

Canton - Nannie Fisher Howell - age 87 died Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Jackson County but had resided in Haywood County for 56 years. She was a daughter of the late Rufus Wilburn and Minnie Allen Fisher and the wife of the late Elwood Lewis Howell who died in May, 2005. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by five brothers and one son, Elwood Lewis Howell, Jr. who died at birth. She was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and choir member. She enjoyed canning, sewing and making drapes. Mrs. Howell made drapes for Virginia James which went into Wells Funeral Home in Canton. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Hyatt and her husband Alex of Clyde; one sister, Eunice Parris of Louisville, KY; three grandsons, Robbie Hyatt of Greenville, SC, Jason Hyatt and his wife Kerrie of Canton and Blake Hyatt of Canton and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ryleigh Hyatt. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Carl Chastain and Reverend Chris Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 50 Howell Road in Canton.
