Nannie Reed

Nannie Gertrude Reed, age 92, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Augusta Alexander and Ida Pless Reed and was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. She retired from Champion International after 41 years of service. She was a member of Canton First United Methodist Church. She is survived by a foster brother, Carl Cagle of Canton; a special niece and caregiver, Dot Reed Hyatt of Clyde; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews who were very special to her. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, at Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Patricia Chaput and Reverend W. O. Henson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the home of Joe and Dot Hyatt in Thompson Cove, Clyde. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Johnny Woody, 542 Reed Cove Road, Waynesville, NC 28786 or to Canton First United Methodist Church, 31 Newfound Street, Canton, NC 28716.
