Nannie Wells

August 22, 1915 — June 10, 2003

Waynesville-Nannie B. Wells, age 87, formerly of Bethel, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at the Brian Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Henry F. and Alice Kerley Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis Wells, who died in 1983; a daughter, Judy Wilson and her husband, Charles Wilson; and two sisters, Hortense Grasty and Lenoir Bridges. She worked in the piece good department of Belk's of Waynesville for over 20 years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a life member of the Woman's Sorority of Christian Services.

She is survived by two daughters, Joy Truitt, and her husband, Lynn, and Linda Hannah and her husband, Dennis, both of Waynesville; a sister, Marie Ensley, of Old Town, Florida; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Art O'Neil officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the services. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
