Nathan Thomas, Jr.

Etowah – Nathan Carl Thomas, Jr., age 70, formerly of Canton passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Nathan Carl Thomas, Sr. and Ellen Sawyer Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Winston M. Thomas. Nathan was a 1965 graduate of Bethel High School and a 1978 and 2004 graduate of Blue Ridge Community College. He served from April, 1966 to June, 1969 on active duty with the United States Navy and nine more years in the Naval Reserves and retired from Dupont/Sterling/Agfa with 32 years of service. He is survived by a son, Nathan Carl Thomas, III and a sister, Becky Thomas Jenkins. No services are planned. Interment will be in Sawyer Cemetery in Swain County.
