Neil Duckworth

Neil W. Duckworth, age 67, of Substation Road died Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Clarence E. Duckworth and Mabel Duckworth Robinson. He was a member of Long's United Methodist Church and co-owner of Brooks and Churm Furniture Company in Canton. Following retirement, Neil served his community as a self-employed painter and handyman. Much of Neil's time was devoted to helping others in need in many different ways. He served in the North Carolina National Guard. In addition to his wife of 46 years, Sue W. Duckworth of Canton, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa Mashburn and her husband, Terry of Canton; a sister, Kay Corzine and her husband, Bruce of Canton; a brother, Jack Duckworth and his wife, Nancy of Canton and Spring Hill, FL; two grandchildren, Kelly and Casey Mashburn and two cats, Bud White and Meanie. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2005 at Long's Community Cemetery with the Reverend Bradford H. Holliman officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
