Nell Burnette

Canton - Nell Allene Burnette went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2007 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Austin and Ollie Smathers Burnette. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Emmeth Henson and Marie Duvall and three brothers, Wayne C., Charles N. and Clinton Burnette. Nell was retired from Champion International with 37 years of service and was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church. She loved her dogs, cattle, and enjoyed the simple life. She is survived by three nieces, Betty Cox, Jeanette Moore, and Mary Lou Ross; four nephews, Charles Glen Burnette, Charles F., Carl, and Shelton Duvall, and her special friends at Hardee's. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Lowder officiating. Burial will follow in Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, for new building fund, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1275, Canton, NC 28716.
