Nellie Blalock

Nellie Worley Blalock, age 85, of Pisgah Drive passed away on Friday, January 20, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Ira Augustus and Annie Mae Wilson Worley. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Cumy Robinson and three brothers, Elbert, John and Gordon Worley. She retired from Champion International as a cutter operator and was of the Methodist faith. She loved her flowers and enjoyed working in and tending to her vegetable garden. In addition to her husband of 65 years, Garnett Blalock, she is survived by four sisters, Catherine Messer of Asheville, Mary Hyde and Kate Pope of Canton and Nettie Mae Moore of VA; two brothers, Weaver Worley of Canton and Charles Worley of TN; and a special niece and caregiver, Louise Rhodes as well as other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2005 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with her nephew, Jerry Worley officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles and David Hyde, Ricky and Bradley Pope, Bill Worley, Nicholas Barnette, and Brandon Farmer.
