Waynesville, Nellie Carver Cagle, age 97, passed away to her heavenly home on Monday, November 6, 2017 at The Homestead.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County she was the last living child of thirteen children born to Oliver and Tina Sutton Carver. Nellie retired from the Quality Control Department of Dayco Corporation. Following her employment with Dayco she was a seamstress and did alterations for many people. She was a dedicated member of Barberville Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member and prayer captain of the church prayer committee. As an outreach of the church Nellie was a Sunday school teacher at Chestnut Park Nursing Home for over thirty years. Nellie loved to read and work puzzles, she wrote poetry and was a published author. She delighted giving poems to her family and friends. Nellie will always be remembered as a sweet, gentle soul that touched many people.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Wanda Burbach, and her husband, Bill, of Johnson City, Tennessee; two sons, Doyle Cagle, and his wife, Mary, and Pastor Jake Cagle, and his wife, Ann, all of Waynesville; eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend John Swanger, III, Reverend Ned Webb, and Reverend Kris Estep officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
