Waynesville-Nellie Madaline Faust Edwards, age 86, of 1445 Pigeon Road, died on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Silver Bluff. A native of Columbia, SC, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Nellie Gates Faust. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark A. Edwards, who died in 1983; two brothers; and one sister. She was a member of Francis Cove United Methodist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Columbia, SC, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She is survived by one daughter, Donna Messer, and her husband, Jay, of Waynesville; one sister, Reba Hair, of Columbia, SC; three granddaughters, Melissa, Melinda, and Sarah Messer; and one great granddaughter, Amiyah Trinity Messer-Jessup. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. Interment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne Edwards, Barry Franklin, Gene Hill, B.J. Jessup, Rob Sims, and Jimmy Watson. Memorials may be made to the David Franklin Memorial Scholarship Fund, College of Architecture UNC Charlotte, 9201 University City Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28228.
