Nellie Jones

Waynesville, Nellie Ruth Pressley Jones, 82, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Brian Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie W. Pressley and Bessie Elizabeth Pressley Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jones, who died in 2002; two brothers, Ralph Washington Pressley and James Pressley; and a sister, Martha Jean Birchfield. She worked in the Customer Service Department of K-Mart for 13 years and was a former secretary at McKay's. Nellie was a social butterfly and loved being with people and her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the art of canning, loved to read, and collecting dolls. Nellie loved the people at the Brian Center and served as president of the Resident Council. She also enjoyed hearing and singing southern gospel music and playing bingo. Nellie is survived by two daughters, Beverly Robinson (Dillard) and Diane Schwall (Richard) of Waynesville; two sons, James Glen Jones (Shannon) and Paul David Jones (Patsy) of Canton; a sister, Joann Dills (Troy) of Waynesville; a brother, Roy Pressley (Winnie) also of Waynesville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Russ McLamb and Reverend Stacy Woods officiating. Entombment will be in the Garrett-Hillcrest Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time.
