Nellie Lance

Waynesville, Nellie Chandler Lance, age 79, of White Oak Road, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jeff and Helen Hampton Chandler. She was preceded in death by a son, Bret Lance; three brothers, Starlie, Lewis, and Tinker Chandler; and one sister, Elsie Sheehan. Nellie loved teaching her grandchildren how to cook and enjoyed her strawberry collectibles. She was a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Johnny "J.L." Lance; two sons, Johnny "Trapper" Lance, Jr. and Terry Lance and his wife, Cynthia, all of Waynesville; one daughter, Jeannell "Punk" Bryant and her husband, Ronnie, of Clyde; two sisters, Susie Plemmons of Waynesville and Macey Massie of Bridgeton, N. J.; two brothers, Lowery and Tom Chandler, both of Waynesville; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Panther Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Greene and Reverend Brian Parkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Lance, III, Kyle, Chad, and Bryan Bryant, David Blackburn, and Todd Fisher. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the church.
